PURPOSE: To encourage and recognise excellence in the study of all aspects of horticultural science by Australian post-graduate students, by providing financial support to attend the IHC.

ELIGIBILITY: Awards are available to students currently enrolled in an Australian Honours, Masters or PhD program (or a student who has submitted their thesis for examination since October 2020*), who are current AuSHS members and who are conducting their research in an area relevant to Australian horticulture. Applicants who are eligible for both the GRAHAM GREGORY STUDENT TRAVEL AWARD and the YOUNG SCIENTIST TRAVEL AWARD will be automatically included in the selection process for both awards.

*NOTE: Once selected, the successful recipient of the travel scholarship may also be eligible for the IHC’s ‘My Hort Thesis in 3 Minutes’ competition if they have submitted their PhD thesis for examination since October 2020 or will submit their thesis by February 2022. If selected to compete by the IHC jury, they will gain free registration to the congress and will be required to deliver their 3-minute presentation in person at the congress. For the IHC ‘My Hort Thesis in 3 Minutes’ competition, the topic of the candidate PhDs must be consistent with one of the major topics of IHC 2022 (Competitiveness and skills for horticultural value chains; Food, human health and well-being of citizens; Sustainability of production systems; Adaptation to climate change and mitigation).
